After spending time at British Energy I wanted the challenge of working in a completely different sector. As soon as the job specification was presented to me at Herbert Smith I was excited by the thought of working in such a diverse HR team with a multitude of experience and knowledge. Even though I have only been at the firm for 10 months it’s obvious that it is both friendly and supportive.

Coming from a non-legal background, I have enjoyed rubbing shoulders with the fee earners during the Associate Development Centres and Senior Associate Development Centres – it has given me an insight into the make-up of lawyers and how they operate in order to be successful.

Through mentoring and access to excellent training and resources my professional development has taken an exciting direction since joining the firm, allowing me to pursue my goals. 

Aside from work, Herbert Smith has given me the opportunity to give something back to the community through the corporate responsibility initiative. I am currently involved with BAOH, which offers support to the homeless. My role is to coach individuals through the challenges and opportunities they are faced with.

Sport has played a major role in my life and it is something I have been able to continue here. I am part of the rugby team and have recently signed for a corporate triathlon. Working for Herbert Smith has opened up many opportunities for me to make my professional and personal life richer and more rewarding.
