I read Jurisprudence at Oxford University before starting my law career with Norton Rose. Within the market, Herbert Smith has always had an excellent reputation for their focus on international growth and high quality personnel. This appealed to me and at the start of 2007 I took the opportunity to join the firm.

I specialise in banking and Islamic finance and have been based in the Middle East for over eight years. Most of our work from Dubai is cross-border. Dubai is the hub for what is very much a regional practice, but which also reaches into Europe and the Far East. We have, from here, advised on transactions in France, Germany and the UK, through to Hong Kong. These include a number of the leading Islamic financing transactions in the region, as well as the structuring and development of a number of Islamic financing products.

The confident and supportive environment at Herbert Smith has enabled our team to win Deal of the Year from IFLR for the Villamar Transaction. I have also been named as a leading banking and finance lawyer by Global Counsel 3000 for four years running as well as by PLC Which Lawyer, Chambers Global 2006 and The Legal 500 2006.
