I originally joined Herbert Smith in 1998. I left in 2005 to go travelling but returned in 2007, I wanted to further my career in human resources and I knew Herbert Smith was the place to do it.

The working environment can be summed up as professional but fun – another reason I came back. The people are friendly and approachable and dedicated to providing a good service to clients, both internal and external.

One of the best things about the work here is its international focus. I’ve worked closely with all our international offices for recruitment purposes, culminating in a secondment to Singapore..

The firm is very aware of its responsibilities to the wider community. Everyone is encouraged to take part in corporate responsibility initiatives. I chose Business Action on Homelessness and coached a homeless person trying to get back into work. I met with him every other week over a few months to help him with his CV and interview preparation. It was a very rewarding experience.

The firm has provided me with the opportunity to develop in my role. I have been promoted three times and am currently on secondment to our Singapore office.  I have gained experience in all areas of HR by working within different divisions and looking after all client bases. Since my return I’ve never looked back.
