Jason Sung
Title: Senior associate
Division: Corporate
Location: Hong Kong
I graduated from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce and Administration, and joined Herbert Smith as a graduate in September 1999. The deciding factor was Herbert Smith's strong contentious practice and fast growing corporate practice. I now work in the Hong Kong office.
If I had to name one career highlight, it would be taking a leading associate role in advising the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited's global offering in 2006. This raised US$21 billion and remains the largest IPO in the world to date.
Working internationally is a major part of my job. During my years here, I have been involved in transactions relating to the US, UK, Belgium, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Spain, Italy and France.
Herbert Smith is a true technical firm where everyone strives, and is trained to achieve, technical excellence. The culture here is friendly but professional, where lawyers can prosper and develop. All who work here are devoted professionals who aim to provide top quality work, we are all supportive of each other and the partners are always approachable.
If you are looking for a great variety of high profile and complex legal work with blue chip clients, and would respond to well-balanced supervision and guidance from partners and seniors, then Herbert Smith is the firm for you.
