Location: Dubai
Department: Legal PA services
Title: Secretary
After completing my GCSEs I went on to do a BTEC First Diploma in Business and Finance.
I worked at Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert in their Reinsurance Department before moving to Herbert Smith in May 2006. I wanted to join a leading international law firm with a good reputation - HS filled all the criteria.
My time here began in the London office where I was involved in business development work. As float secretary I assisted Matthew Fuller, global head of business development for some six months. After that I spent just under a year in one of the corporate groups working for Henry Davey and his team. At the end of this time I was given the opportunity as a secretary to relocate to the Dubai office, for which I am most grateful to Herbert Smith.
One of the great things about the Dubai office is that everyone works as a team. I think a good working environment is important when working in an international office. This is definitely the case in Dubai. There is always a social event taking place be it bowling, taking part in the Dubai marathon or just drinks after work at Emirates Towers.
If you are looking to work for one of the leading international law firms with a good reputation in the legal market, and would also like to work in a friendly but professional environment, then Herbert Smith is the place for you.
I can honestly say that my time at Herbert Smith has been the greatest investment in my working career so far.
