Herbert Smith's Moscow office opened in 1999 and is located in the heart of "old" Moscow, a short walk away from Red Square and the Kremlin.

The office deals with a mix of Russian and English law-related work, and its clients are both Russian and international. Key areas of expertise of the practice are corporate, finance and banking, projects and project financing, capital markets, tax, dispute resolution, real estate, and restructuring and insolvency.

Living and working in Moscow

Living in Moscow is similar to living in any large European city, except the weather can be freezing – although the buildings are well heated and winter clothes are widely available and cheap. The public transport system is good, and the Metro particularly impressive with its Soviet mosaics and sculptures.

There are many lively shops, bars and restaurants, which open later into the night. There are many excellent restaurants, and it’s worthwhile seeking out the smaller ones.

Moscow is famed for its culture and history - and rightly so. Its galleries, theatres, museums, churches and monasteries are magnificent, not to mention architecture like the Red Square and the Kremlin.
